Last Thursday (March 21), Head Instructor Kite successfully graded to his 4th Dan Black Belt. He was assessed by the worldwide Head Instructor of Lantern Taekwondo, Mr. Michael Westerberg. Mr. Westerberg came out from Australia to grade Mr. Kite. This video is of one of the board breaking sequences that were a part of the grading. Thank you to all who came out to support Mr. Kite in his efforts to achieve 4th Dan Black Belt!
On Saturday, February 23rd, Lantern Taekwondo took four athletes down to Harrington, DE to spar with Team Agape at their Dojang, Agape Fitness and Martial Arts. Head Instructor Kite, Mel Kite, Assistant Instructor Wood, Caden Wood, and Tyler Wood spent 3 hours training, sparring, and learning with a great group of dedicated and hard working athletes and instructors from Agape. It was a great time and everyone from Lantern would like to say a big “Thank you” to Team Agape for sharing their time and efforts with us.

Lantern Taekwondo has once again been working to make the community a safer place (quite timely given today’s events at the courthouse in Wilmington). Assistant Instructor Wood and Head Instructor Kite have run the ‘No Sweat’ Personal Safety Course at a local school in Middletown over the past two weeks. All of Lantern’s instructors went to a seminar with 9th Dan Grand Master Hsu. It was an excellent seminar with lots of information on some of the many changes to the techniques of the Taeguek Poomsae. We are all experts now!!
